SEATTLE — Police are investigating after a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg during a robbery Friday evening in Magnolia.
Officers responded to the intersection of 34th Avenue West and West Ruffner Street at 8:30 p.m. to reports of a teenager who was shot in the leg.
KIRO 7 received video showing the victim at a corner walking around and texting.
The teen then runs off-camera across the street, and then surveillance video captures, just a bit later, the sound of gunfire going off. Voices are then heard off-camera and then another gunshot is fired.
A person can be heard on surveillance video saying "Give it up!" Another comment is made and then a red car is seen speeding away on camera. The teen is also seen running and limping across the street from where he originally crossed over and falls to the ground and begins to hold his leg.
Then a person off-camera is heard saying " You, call 911."
The victim remained on the ground, a person can be heard off-camera speaking to 911 and two men run across the street to help the teen. More voices are then heard off-camera speaking to 911.
One of the men was seen applying pressure to the teen's calf and more people came out to assist.
It was only moments later that a Seattle patrol car arrived at the scene.
Seattle Fire Department officials took the teen to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The victim told police that he was in the neighborhood to sell shoes when he was reportedly assaulted by two men who fled in the red car.
Police are investigating.
