Man, woman hurt in Bitter Lake shooting

SEATTLE — A man who was shot in Seattle’s Bitter Lake neighborhood then drove to a Northgate-area gas station, where he was met by police.

Police were called to a Chevron station in the 2100 block of North Northgate Way at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday. Police arrived and found a man who had been shot in the leg.

He was treated by medics and then taken to Harborview with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim’s black SUV, which police said had bullet damage, was towed from the scene as evidence. KIRO 7 News video showed that it had a broken window and a flat front tire.

During the investigation, Seattle police learned the 33-year-old victim had been shot near Aurora Avenue North and North 143rd Street in the Bitter Lake neighborhood. He then drove to the Northgate area.

Officers returned to the shooting scene, where they found spent shell casings and damaged vehicles. The southbound lanes were closed while officers collected evidence.

While officers were still at the scene in Bitter Lake, they received a report that a second victim had arrived at Harborview — a woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her chest.

Police said no suspects were located.
