Eight people were arrested and a significant amount of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine was seized during a drug emphasis operation in downtown Federal Way, according to the Federal Way Police Department.

The operation, conducted on Jan. 24 by the department’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) and Special Investigations Unit (SIU), targeted public drug use.

The eight individuals arrested were charged with knowingly using a controlled substance in a public place.

During the operation, officers seized more than 100 suspected fentanyl pills and several grams of suspected methamphetamine.

The Federal Way Police Department highlighted the operation as part of its ongoing commitment to community safety.

They noted that drug-related arrests in Federal Way increased by 339% in 2024, and that operations like this contribute to that increase.
