A 12-year-old boy from Renton is recuperating Thursday night after he said he was a victim of a hit-and-run.

Julian Early was walking with a friend on Queen Avenue in Renton Wednesday afternoon when he said a black SUV came out of nowhere and knocked him to the ground.

He had just gotten off the school bus with his classmate, Eli.

“I was yelling Eli’s name and said help,” said Julian. “He grabbed my arm and I started limping towards his house.”

It was the security camera at Eli's home that captured the image of the black SUV, which Renton police have since located.

Detectives told us the woman behind the wheel, a mother of several young children, is now facing charges of felony hit-and-run.

“She rolled down her window and asked if I was OK,” said Julian. “And I have no response and she just drives away.”

“Angels were watching over him yesterday because it could have been so much,” said Juliet Hill, mother of Julian.

Hill said her son broke both of his arms.

He also suffered cuts to his face and broke a front tooth.

We talked with Renton police and detectives told us if the suspect would have stayed at the scene she may have gotten away with just a ticket.

Now she faces possible jail time.

“Per state law, she should have stopped and rendered aid. That’s the law,” said Detective Clarence Tolliver.
