OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was authorized to use federal funds to help fight the Eagle Bluff fire burning in Okanogan County, said FEMA on Monday.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources said the fire has spread to Canada and is covering 10,245 acres just southwest of Oroville on the U.S. side and over 3,700 on the Canadian side.
On Sunday there were 15 aircraft working to put out the fire, said the WA DNR.
The fire is around 10% contained but resources are arriving from out of the area and are doing a suppression strategy.
The WA DNR said three primary structures and one secondary structure have been lost. The department also said wind is coming from both north and south with gusts up to 30mph.
A type 3 team has been ordered. Level 1 and Level 2 evacuations have been advised. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
As a reminder, Level 1 means residents should be ready to leave, Level 2 means residents should gather belongings and get set, and Level 3 means residents should leave immediately.
