TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police say they have no new information in the shooting death of 16-year-old Jamone Pratt.

Eyewitnesses told KIRO 7 Pratt was sitting on the porch in front of his home near South J and 46th streets Tuesday when they heard shouting then gunfire.

Pratt was rushed to Tacoma General Hospital where he died from his wounds. His murder left his neighborhood in shock.

“If they’re in pain, we’re all in pain,” said Kevin Neill, who brought flowers to the family early Wednesday. “I wanted to make sure that the family knew that we noticed, that this matters, that we’re grieving with them.”

Police were called to the scene just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Neighbors told officers they heard gunshots before two cars were seen speeding away.

“And horrific, just heart-wrenching screams from the kids not knowing what to do,” said eyewitness Bridgette De la Garza.

Police returned to the home Wednesday to gather more information. So far, no information has been released about possible suspects or a motive for Pratt’s murder.
