SEATTLE — Fourteen people were arrested during demonstrations in Seattle on May Day.
The first arrests of two people were made when police said a coffee shop near Broadway and East Denny Way was spray-painted and damaged.
Not long after, police issued a public safety order to a group that was placing hazards in the road, officials tweeted.
A person was arrested at Seventh Avenue and Olive Way where a carton of eggs, some filled with paint, was also recovered after an egg hit a bystander.
At one point, the marchers blocked all lanes of South Jackson Street at Eighth Avenue, the Seattle Department of Transportation reported.
As demonstrators continued to march, a crowd at Broadway and East Pine Street threw bottles, rocks and paint at officers, causing police to issue a dispersal order. Two people were arrested, law enforcement said.
When the group approached Cal Anderson Park, police said they began throwing flares, bottles, more eggs, paint and a bag of unidentified liquid at officers. Four people were arrested at the park.

.@SeattlePD just made several arrests at Cal Anderson park. The group of demonstrators is dissipating, although tensions are still high given the arrests that are happening here. Lots of taunts toward officers. pic.twitter.com/CHzKMJjf9B

Just before the park arrests, police said a passenger in a car near marchers on Denny Way, “threw a bottle through the open window of an SPD vehicle, striking the SPD driver.” That person was arrested.
