2 injured, 6 displaced after fire at Ballard home

SEATTLE — Two people were injured and six were displaced in a fire at a Ballard home Saturday morning.

Crews arrived at the house in the 1100 block of Northwest 65th Street before 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a person was trapped on the second floor, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the basement and first floor of the home.

Firefighters conducted a search of the home, entering through an upstairs window. They were able to locate and rescue a woman in her sixties.

Medics began lifesaving efforts on the woman at the scene before transporting her to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

An adult male who was able to escape the fire on his own was also transported to Harborview in stable condition.

Six residents were displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
