King County deputies are searching for two women who a local school district says posed as new parents and allegedly stole from teachers.

Four incidents occurred at Highline Public School in August when staff was getting ready for school to start.

There were no students in the school at that time.

Catherine Carbone Rogers, with the school district, told KIRO 7 that some teachers at one of the elementary schools reported missing items.

They said credit cards and IDs belonging to teachers and staff were stolen.

The district looked at surveillance footage and discovered two women who it says posed as a parent and grandparent.

The woman claimed they were new to the community and wanted to check out the school, the district said.

The women spent nearly 40 minutes on campus at McMicken Heights Elementary School in Tukwila, the district said.

"Staff did interact with them, but they had a very believable story so staff welcomed them, as we like to welcome our new families into our schools,” Carbone Rogers said.

As of this week, the two women have not been found and deputies are trying to track them down.
