COWLITZ COUNTY, Wash. — Three people were killed in a collision involving three vehicles on I-5 in Cowlitz County on Saturday afternoon, troopers said.
A driver going northbound on I-5 reportedly left the road and struck a vehicle from behind on the shoulder of the road. The vehicle that was struck had three people inside. Two of them were killed and another passenger was injured and taken to the hospital, troopers said.
And a tow truck that was in front, assisting the vehicle on the shoulder, was hit by the vehicle after it was hit.
The vehicle also struck the tow truck driver who was standing between the vehicles, killing him, according to law enforcement.
The driver that ran off the road was also injured and taken to the hospital. She eventually will be taken into custody on three counts of vehicular homicide, troopers said.
Law enforcement did not say what caused the driver to leave the road, but they are investigating.
