4 coronavirus patients transferred to Spokane hospital for treatment

SPOKANE, Wash. — Four coronavirus patients were transferred to a Spokane hospital for treatment Thursday, officials said.

Two of the patients arrived at Sacred Heart Medical Center in the morning, and two more will arrive in the afternoon after flying from Travis Air Force Base in Sacramento.

Sacred Heart Medical Center was chosen because it is only one of 10 hospitals in the nation with secure airborne infection isolation rooms.

"There is no risk to residents of Spokane County by bringing them for care," said Dr. Bob Lutz, who works for the Spokane Regional Health District.

All patients are in stable condition, a hospital spokesperson said.
