Prince, widely acclaimed as one of the most inventive musicians of his era, had an impression on Seattle with more than his hit songs.
1. He played at least eight shows in Seattle. Here’s when there of those shows happened:
- Nov. 15, 1988: The Seattle Center Coliseum (now KeyArena) as part of the Lovesexy tour.
- April 29, 2002: The Paramount Theatre, as part of his One Nite Alone tour.
- Aug. 30 and 31, 2004: KeyArena as part of the Musicology Live 2004ever tour
- April 18 and 19, 2013: Two shows each day – at the Showbox at the Market. That was part of the Live Out Loud tour.
- He also played at the Tacoma Dome on Feb. 14 and 15, 1985.
- Another show was Sept. 27, 1997 at the Gorge Amphitheatre.
2. On New Year's Day 1999, KUBE 93 played "1999" for 24 straight hours. The song was made popular on his 1982 album of the same name, and had a later resurgence.
3. On a less musical note, locals remember he sued after University of Washington fans used the phrase "Purple Reign" on T-shirts to promote Husky Football in the 80s.

What we know about his death:
His publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, told The Associated Press the music icon was found dead at his home Thursday in Minnesota.
He drew upon influences ranging from James Brown to the Beatles to Jimi Hendrix. His hits included "Little Red Corvette," "Let's Go Crazy" and "When Doves Cry."
The Minneapolis native broke through in the late 1970s with the hits "Wanna Be Your Lover" and soared over the following decade with such albums as "1999" and "Purple Rain."
