SEATTLE — Four Virginia Mason Medical Center employees who work in or near the hospital’s operating rooms have tested positive for COVID-19, Gale Robinette, the hospital’s media relations manager said.
Three of the employees tested positive within a one-week span. Another employee was found to be positive after the hospital’s employee health department tested more than 650 of its team members since the three were confirmed.
Robinette said each employee who tested positive will remain at home for at least two weeks as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The hospital has not identified any risk of exposure to patients, as its employees were always wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment while in the presence of patients, Robinette said.
“Protecting the health and safety of patients and team members is our highest priority,” the hospital stated.
