ORONDO, Wash. — Firefighters went to a report of a wildfire, later named the “141 Fire”, one mile north of Orondo on Saturday around 6 p.m.
When they got there, units said they found a fast-moving wildfire running quickly up the steep hillside.
Additional fire crews responded to a second alarm from agencies including the Douglas County Sheriff, the Department of Natural Resources, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Forest Service. There were 74 firefighters on the fire.
Orondo Fire said crews fought the fire throughout the night and slowed the growth of the fire to around 70 acres, moving from Orondo Fire’s district to Waterville Fire’s district.
Orondo Fire also said crews have continued to fight the fire on Sunday in rugged terrain. Firefighters are working to hit hot spots and contain the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
