On Wednesday, the Washington State Patrol unveiled a new rolling billboard to help find Alyssa McLemore, 21. McLemore was last seen in Kent in April 2009.
McLemore is one of 56 missing Native American women in Washington, according to a recent report by the Washington State Patrol.
Today McLemore's photo was put on the side of a KamWay Trucking semi. They parked the truck at the base of the Capitol.
Not only is there a renewed push to find McLemore, but an effort to draw attention to the larger problem of missing Native American women in our state.
Usually the billboards are for missing children age 18 and younger, posting McLemore's photo signals a new direction in the fight for justice, for her and other missing Native American women.
New legislation will provide the State Patrol with two tribal liaisons, to help with communication, trust, and cultural barriers.
