SEATTLE — Actor Chris Pratt announced Sunday over Twitter his plans to join the Seattle Seahawks in their planned ‘demonstration of unity.’
"Today I will stand united with the Seahawks to #buildAbridge I challenge you to stand and link arms during the national anthem today. #12s," Pratt wrote.
The Seattle Seahawks are planning a team-wide ‘demonstration of unity’ Sunday morning before their season opener against the Miami Dolphins, wide receiver Doug Baldwin says.
Word of the demonstration emerged Thursday when Baldwin first tweeted about the demonstration.
“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds,” Baldwin says in the video. “As a team, we have chosen to stand and interlock arms in unity.”
Many fans have expressed outrage on social media regarding any form of demonstration or protest while the national anthem in playing.
The Seahawks’ planned demonstration comes as a number of athletes have followed the lead of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick refused to stand for the playing of the national anthem in protest of what he deems are offenses against African-Americans and other minorities.
