KENT, Wash. — A man suspected of murder in Alabama was found hiding in Washington.
Last week, the Kent Police Department received a tip that the 50-year-old man from Birmingham was at a hotel with his girlfriend in the area.
There was a warrant for his arrest in Tuscaloosa County for the December death of 37-year-old Cornelis Smith.
The police department confirmed that the man had a room at a hotel on 83rd Avenue South, and found him outside when they went to arrest him.
“When he noticed the patrol cars entering the lot he quickly tried to walk away. Too late,” the department said.
The man complied with demands and was quickly arrested. He’s being held in the county jail until he can be extradited to Alabama.
