SEATTLE — Seattle Parks and Recreation said the hours at Golden Gardens and Alki Beach will be shortened during the summer of 2022.
The reduced hours are intended to prevent dangerous or illegal activity that park officials said had been typical of the summer evenings at the parks.
Under the pilot program, the parks’ hours will be 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. from May 27 to Sept. 4.
After Sept. 5, the parks will open from 4 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Last year, Golden Gardens’ hours were changed to mitigate an increase in public safety issues and illegal activity at the park.
Alki Beach also closed early last summer to deter the illegal use of fireworks and to help mitigate illegal activity.
