SEATTLE — Amazon Prime members will now be able to get free grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market.

The retail giant announced Tuesday that Amazon Fresh, which had cost $14.99 per month, is now a free benefit for Prime members.

“Prime members love the convenience of free grocery delivery on Amazon, which is why we’ve made Amazon Fresh a free benefit of Prime, saving customers $14.99 per month,” said Stephenie Landry, vice president of grocery delivery. “Grocery delivery is one of the fastest growing businesses at Amazon, and we think this will be one of the most-loved Prime benefits.”

Customers will be able to choose from a variety of products, including meat, seafood, produce, snacks and household essentials, with options for fast one- and two-hour delivery windows.

Amazon said the move to offer Amazon Fresh for free to Prime members was made in part because of the rapid growth of grocery delivery.

Grocery delivery is currently available in more than 2,000 cities.

Prime members who are in eligible cities can request an invitation to shop Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market delivery and Amazon will send an alert when shopping is available.
