Andrus Fire in eastern Washington 100% contained

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — An eastern Washington wildfire, named the Andrus Fire, is now 100% contained.

State officials said the fire started at 11:11 a.m. on July 5.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources said the fire burned 232 acres as of the last report on Monday, July 12.

Levels 1, 2 and 3 evacuations were put in effect, as the fire was threatening more than 135 homes, crops, Interstate 90 and other local resources.

Five task forces were ordered to help fight the fire after Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources.

The Red Cross was also called to help by setting up an evacuation center for those affected by the fire.

Crews with the Red Cross set up the center at Medical Lake High School located at 200 E. Barker Street in Medical Lake.

Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
