SEATTLE — A 47-year-old is in custody following a shooting inside a motel on Aurora Avenue, Seattle police announced Thursday.
Police said they responded to the shooting in the 8200 block of Aurora Avenue North around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The person who call 911 reported a man had been shot in the leg, police said.
When police entered the motel room, they said they applied a tourniquet to the victim's bleeding leg.
Officials with Seattle Fire later took over the primary care when the scene was secure, police said.
Police said the victim initially told them he had shot himself but "then gave conflicting accounts of what had occurred."
The victim was later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Police said they later developed information about a possible suspect who was observed entering the victim's room before the shooting.
Around 1 a.m. Thursday, officers said they went back to the motel and found the suspect in a different room.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of assault.
