KENT, Wash. — A 31-year-old man from Auburn was arrested Monday, accused of stealing from a Kent gas station and threatening a clerk with a knife.
Police say it happened just before midnight in the West Hill neighborhood.
Officers say when they arrived, the man was out front of the store, carrying a handful of items.
Police repeatedly told him to drop everything and get on the ground, but they say he refused.
When he turned his back, officers made their move. They say they found the knife and some drug paraphernalia in his front pocket.
The gas station clerk told officers a second man was with him, but he ran off before they arrived.
This wasn’t the employee’s first run-in with these men. He told officers that he recognized the pair from the night before. He said they tried to heat up a pizza they brought into the store, and when he told them to leave, they damaged items and threatened to assault him.
The clerk told police the pair left in a hurry when he threatened to call police.
If anyone knows anything about this case that may help find the second man, they are asked to call Kent police.
