SEATAC, Wash. — If you’ve had trouble finding a parking spot in the garage at Sea-Tac Airport, the Port of Seattle is working to make it easier with automated parking guidance systems.
The systems would help save drivers time finding an empty parking stall.
The proposal that will be pitched Tuesday morning says the system works with a series of cameras and lights placed on each row to let drivers know which parking stalls are open using real-time information.
The project is expected to cost nearly $23 million and is not scheduled to get its first funds until 2020.
Part of the proposal is also to double the amount of electric car charging stations, bringing the total to 94.
The Port of Seattle says its airport garage is forecasted to bring in almost $77 million this year.
The proposal is expected to be heard and voted on at the Port of Seattle's next meeting Tuesday evening.
