SEATTLE — A baby mountain goat is finding a new home in Seattle after being relocated out of the Olympics this summer.
The kid is being moved to Woodland Park Zoo.
"We're pleased we can provide a permanent home at Woodland Park Zoo for a new kid goat. The female will join our 1-year-old male, who was part of last year's translocation, and an adult female. We're confident she will successfully socialize with her new herd and will enjoy living in the high rocky crags and ledges of our Northern Trail habitat," said Martin Ramirez, mammal curator at Woodland Park Zoo
In July, 177 mountain goats were airlifted out of Olympic National Park in an effort to relocate the non-native species. They were taken to different locations in the Cascades except for 10 mountain goat kids that were taken to the wildlife park Northwest Trek for "stabilization, acclimation and socialization," according to a press release.

The kids were socialized with goats who had been taken out of the Olympics last year, who helped them get used to their new environment. One of the goats will remain behind, but the other nine will find new homes at regional zoos, including Woodland Park Zoo.
Welcome home to the new goat!
