A baby shark that was spotted on shore at a beach near Neah Bay and appeared to be struggling was helped back into the water thanks to a couple beachgoers.

According to a Facebook post, Ryan Roxley said she and her friend, Cole Sheely, saw the shark Wednesday night while they were at Shi Shi Beach.

"After some trench-digging to get water to him and some actual pulling him to the water by his tail, we were able to get him safely back home," Roxley said.

Roxley told KIRO 7 they took turns trying get the shark back into the water.

"The hardest part was making sure when we pulled him closer to water, that ... once the waves came up, that he wouldn't swim towards us and bite us," she said. "So it was a fine balance between pulling him and getting him into deeper water."

Video captured the shark getting back into the water and swimming away. (Watch the video below)

"Touching a shark. That's something I never thought I'd be able to say," Roxley said.
