A Bellevue man is jailed on the Big Island of Hawaii, arrested on suspicion of murder for the death of his wife.

Hawaii police said Sonam Saxena, 43, first reported his wife missing. She was last seen Tuesday.

After police found what they believe is the body of Smriti Saxena, 41, they arrested her husband.

The couple live in Bellevue and were vacationing with their children at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort, according to West Hawaii Today.

Sonam Saxena spoke with a reporter for West Hawaii Today before his arrest and said he last saw his wife on the shoreline south of ʻAnaehoʻomalu Bay around 10:00 the night before, after an evening at the Lava Lava Beach Club.

"She got an asthma attack right there on the beach and she was feeling weak and she didn't want to walk all the way back because it's almost a 20-minute walk back from that beach to our room," Saxena told West Hawaii Today.

Saxena said he ran back to get her inhaler, and when he returned, she was gone.

The next day, Saxena sent a tweet to Hawaii's governor complaining police were busy giving interviews about the discovery of a body and wouldn't take his call.

Sonam Saxena is a product manager at Google Cloud.

Google did not respond to a request for a statement.

Smriti Saxena was a business program manager at Microsoft.

Microsoft declined comment, but on Facebook, a friend wrote to KIRO 7, “we are extremely shocked.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
