Bellevue police: Driver arrested after stolen FedEx truck struck cars, fled into Seattle

SEATTLE — Police said a FedEx truck was stolen from Bellevue Friday afternoon and struck several vehicles as the driver fled into Seattle.

Bellevue police said the driver was arrested, with help from Seattle police, around 2 p.m. on Alaskan Way in front of the ferry terminal.

If your vehicle was hit or you find a package on the roadway, Bellevue police ask that you contact them.

The suspect stole a FedEx truck that was parked at Lincoln Square. Keys were left in the truck, police said.

Police said the back doors of the FedEx truck were left open, so packages were flying out of the back. When the truck got on I-90 westbound, the suspect was traveling 90 to 100 miles per hour.

Packages were dropped on I-90 and a car was struck.

The suspect exited at 4th Avenue, police said, and drove through Pioneer Square. Police said the suspect also drove through a construction zone, almost striking workers.

Police took the suspect into custody at the Colman Dock ferry terminal.

No one was injured.

FedEx released this statement Friday afternoon:

"We are aware of the incident that occurred in Bellevue and are grateful that no serious injuries were reported. We are cooperating fully with investigating authorities at this time.
