Bellevue police officer arrested after allegation of domestic violence assault

BELLEVUE, Wash. — A Bellevue Police officer was arrested early Saturday morning after an allegation of domestic violence assault, according to the Bellevue Police Department.

Police say the alleged assault happened around three weeks ago in Bellevue. The officer was arrested for fourth degree assault and was booking into the King County Jail.

The Bellevue Police Department says the officer, a 16-year veteran of the department, has been placed on administrative leave while the allegation is investigated.

According to a news release, the Bellevue Police Department has asked the King County Sheriff's Office to head the criminal investigation to "avoid any conflicts of interest and to ensure an unbiased an impartial investigation."

The arrest for an alleged assault comes just one month after Brooks Laughlin, an officer with the Bellingham Police Department, was arrested on multiple charges related to the alleged repeated abuse of a woman. Click here to read more.
