Bellingham K9 team arrest suspect with sword after domestic violence violation

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police arrested a suspect with felony warrants after a domestic violence protection order violation in Bellingham.

Around 10 p.m. on Monday, officers from the Bellingham Police Department answered a call of a domestic violence protective order violation actively happening.

Police said the suspect was banging on the protected person’s windows.

Then police discovered that the suspect had two active felony warrants for domestic violence.

When police arrived, they saw the suspect on a bike in the parking lot of the apartments.

The suspect dropped the bike and started to run.

The officers called for a K9 unit and secured the area until they arrived.

The K9 team searched through the apartment complex, into the woods, down a trail and into another apartment complex before K9 Stella alerted the officer.

The K9 officer located the suspect hiding under a car and arrested him.

Police said they found a small sword on the suspect.
