The Blue Angels will debut their upgraded aircraft for the 2021 Seafair Weekend Festival in August.
“The entire team is excited to get up there to Seattle in August of this year, Aug. 6- 8, just to again showcase the precision, professionalism and teamwork of the Navy and Marine Corps,” said Blue Angels Lt. Julius Bratton.
The elite team will roar across Seattle with new jets, the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, for the Blue Angel’s 75th anniversary of performing.
“With the new Super Hornet in our demonstration, it now represents the aircraft that most of the Navy fleet is flying,” said Blue Angel’s Lt. Katlin Forster.
The Super Hornet will replace the Navy’s Legacy Hornet jets that the team flew for more than three decades.
“The Super Hornet is a little bit bigger and louder than the Legacy Hornet, in maneuver aspect should be pretty similar, just a lot louder,” said Forster.
The 2020 Seafair was canceled due to the pandemic, an iconic Seattle tradition the Blue Angels are looking forward to celebrating.
“Excited about the optimistic future of the world. If we show up to Seattle in 2021, which I fully plan on, that means the pandemic is moving towards being nonexistent,” said Bratton.
