SEATTLE — The U.S. Navy Blue Angels arrived at Boeing Field on Monday afternoon in advance of their Seafair performance this weekend.
The squadron landed just before 2 p.m. See photos here.
On their way in, the planes will fly over at Ault Field. Naval Air Station Whidbey Island expected the flyover to happen between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Blue Angels will fly in the rare “Big V” formation during Seafair
Capt. Jeff Kuss was killed in early June when his F/A-18 Hornet
, a town outside Nashville,Tennessee.
Kuss, 32, flew in Seattle last year during the Seafair Festival, where the Blue Angels show has been a staple of the celebration for six decades.

“Everyone is here [in the Blue Angels] for a common goal, and discipline, and we like to display that across the country in form of a flight demonstration,” he told KIRO 7 News in 2015.
Kuss had been the pilot of plane No. 6. A plane No. 7 flew in on Monday afternoon, but it will not perform with the Blue Angels on Sunday.
When the Blue Angels soar this week, the I-90 floating bridge will be closed at various times. The closures start Thursday with the last closures on Sunday. See the full list of closures here.
