Bob Seger's Tacoma Dome concert rescheduled, may end final tour in Tacoma

Bob Seger is coming back to the Tacoma Dome on September 21 – three months after a six-day run in Detroit on his final tour – to make up a February concert cancelled by the snow, Tacoma Dome staff announced Thursday.

Seger – known for songs including “Old Time Rock and Roll,” “Night Moves,” “Like a Rock,” and “Against the Wind” – was scheduled to play Tacoma as part of his final tour on Saturday, February 9.

But Western Washington had several inches of snow that day, particularly on side streets, and the concert was postponed at 2 p.m., six hours before the scheduled start time.

Concert promoter LiveNation said that day the concert was cancelled because Governor Jay Inslee’s State of Emergency remained in effect and Tacoma city officials said the concert could be held.

Seger’s Facebook page had an update that day and again on March 1 explaining the postponement reason and asking fans to hold onto tickets.

Seger's final tour was expected to conclude with the six Detroit dates at DTE Energy Music Theatre, from June 6 to June 21. Seger was born in Detroit and started playing there as a Ann Arbor High School student in 1961 with his band, the Decibels.

The news was tweeted Thursday morning by the Tacoma Dome, but not immediately listed on Seger’s website or social media accounts.
