GRANITE FALLS, Wash. — Deputies with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office say they have recovered the body of a 30-year-old Seattle man who fell through an ice bridge near Granite Falls.
Officials said the man was hiking on Friday in the Gothic Basin area, about three miles from Barlow Pass, when the ice bridge collapsed as he was crossing.

As the man fell, deputies said both ice and snow boulders fell on top of him. He died at the scene.
Search and rescue officials found the man Friday night, but were unable to recover his body due to the dangerous conditions. They returned Saturday morning, but were again unable to recover his body.
Search and rescue deputies, with the help of the sheriff’s office’s helicopter and volunteers, recovered his body on Wednesday.
Deputies said the Snohomish County Medical Examiner will provide the identification of the man.
