BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue police are investigating the death of a man at a park as a homicide.

Police were called to Goldsmith Park in the 3200 block of 142nd Place Northeast around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after neighbors reported hearing gunfire.

When officers arrived at the park, they found the body of a man with gunshot wounds. Investigators said the victim is an 18-year-old Bellevue resident.

On Friday, friends identified the victim as Josue Flores. There is a growing memorial where Flores was killed.

Investigators do not believe the shooting was random and detectives are following up on several leads.

KIRO 7 checked with the Bellevue School District, Flores was not currently a student in the district.

Police were first calling the death suspicious, but later said it was being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators said they do not believe there is an "ongoing threat to the public."

Relatives are concerned about having enough money to bury the teenager and have set up a Go Fund Me account.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bellevue police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
