PUYALLUP, Wash. — Puyallup police said a burglar went shopping inside a closed Walmart before he was found by security guards.

Officers said the 64-year-old man was able to enter the store at 310 31st Avenue Southeast after it was closed last weekend.

Once inside, the man chose a mountain bike and rode around the store selecting a few drinks and candy bars.

When security guards discovered the man, he told them to get away and threatened them with a cleaver-style knife.

The suspect then went out through a fire exit, taking the merchandise with him.

He was found behind the store and was detained by Puyallup police officers.

Officers said the man had a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department felony warrant for second-degree burglary.

He was permanently banned from Walmart and booked into the Pierce County Jail.
