BURIEN, Wash. — Multiple gunshots were fired in a rolling shootout before two cars crashed in Burien on Tuesday.

A couple of King County Sheriff's Office deputies were at a park about 10 a.m. when they heard gunshots. As they approached the scene, a man in a silver convertible – with the top down – was firing a gun toward another vehicle.

KIRO 7 News talked to witnesses and author ties to learn what led up to the shooting. Watch a report on our newscast live at 5 p.m. on-air or online here.

The second vehicle had two people inside and shots were also being fired from it, according to KCSO. The convertible was rammed by the other vehicle as the drivers attempted to flee.

"Literally we had deputies in this parking lot ... looking at a suspicious vehicle," said KCSO spokeswoman Cindi West ."They hear shots being fire. They look up and see the driver of a convertible whose got his gun out. He's just firing it out randomly in the air. It appears the other vehicle was firing at the convertible."

A third vehicle was also stuck, but it was not involved in the shooting.

The driver of the convertible was ejected from the car.

Both drivers of the suspect vehicles were taken to Harborview Medical Center for crash-related injuries. No one was hit by gunfire.

A passenger in the second suspect vehicle was taken into custody.

The King County Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
