SEATAC, Wash. — The driver who police say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash Friday morning has been arrested.
The crash happened on the eastbound SR 518 onramp from Des Moines Memorial Drive in SeaTac at about 1:47 a.m.
The Washington State Patrol said a 44-year-old passenger was standing outside an SUV after the driver had ran out of gas. The passenger was struck by another driver, who did not stop.
It appeared the passenger was trying to put gas in the SUV when he was hit.
Troopers said the hit-and-run vehicle was a gray work or utility truck with a built-in toolbox and a hoist in the back. There was also a bag of rugby balls in the truck bed.
After the crash, which sheared off the side of the SUV, the truck struggled to leave the scene.
Troopers tweeted Friday night the truck had been located and they arrested the suspect.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of felony hit-and-run.
