TACOMA, Wash. — A car crashed into a Subway restaurant, sending glass flying and throwing a security guard across the sub shop and straight into a table.
"All I know is it was super loud, glass everywhere. The sill that was holding up the glass all came crashing down on the security guard. It was bad. It was really bad,” said employee Leaerra Patterson.
Patterson was making a customer a sandwich when a dark-colored car hit the Tacoma Place restaurant, which sits off South 72nd Street.
"I've seen a lot of things, but I've never seen anything like this,” she said. "It could've been anybody. It could've been me, my co-worker that was with me, it could've been any of us. It was horrible. It was horrible."
The crash happened Wednesday evening.
Surveillance video shows the driver bashing the window, throwing the car into drive, getting stuck for a few seconds on a curb and then taking off.
"It would've been nice to just check in and say sorry or something,” said Nanette Colby.
People walking by couldn't ignore the damage.
"Couldn't believe it. We saw it on video and just couldn't even believe the guy did that,” said Monica Colby. "I would've been scared to death."
Officers said they're searching for the driver of the car.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Tacoma police.
