AUBURN, Wash. — A mother and infant child were reunited Monday after a multi-city search through King County.

Auburn police say the child’s mother went inside a business on the 1000 block of Auburn Way South to use the restroom.

“When she went inside to use the restroom she left her vehicle running and an infant inside the vehicle,” says Kolby Trossley, the public information officer for Auburn Police.

When she came back to the parking lot, Trossley says the car and her baby were gone.

“Obviously they pushed this out to the neighboring cities,” he says.

King County deputies were able to locate the car 12 miles away in Maple Valley.

Carly Keller was able to watch the entire thing from her second floor window.

“It was terrifying especially for finding out how far he came. All the way from auburn and made it all the way here,” she said.

Deputies and K-9 units where able to track down the suspect and make an arrest.

Within no time the baby and their mother were back together, police say the child wasn’t injured.
