Archdiocesan Catholic schools in high risk counties will start remote learning in the fall

Two teachers resign from Kennedy Catholic High School

A day after Gov. Inslee issued recommendations for schools for the upcoming school year, Archdiocesan Catholic schools announced they will follow those guidelines.

On Thursday, the Archdiocese of Seattle shared a letter to families announcing that elementary schools in high risk counties will start the fall with remote learning.

Archdiocesan Catholic high schools in the moderate and high risk category will start with remote learning.

Those in moderate to low risk may start with small groups in the classroom or with a hybrid approach.

"This localized approach ensures decisions are based on the most current health and safety information from each county, which is vital for the safety of our students, staff and the local community. At the same time, we are very supportive of our schools, which may need to be more limiting to ensure safety," Kristin Dixon, Superintendent of Office for Catholic Schools.

For students returning to classrooms, there will be important safety changes at schools. They include daily temperature checks, social distancing and mandatory masks.
