RENTON, Wash. — Medics, police and firefighters are at the scene of a crash involving a cement truck and a semitruck in Maple Valley.
Renton fire first tweeted about the crash at 140th Way Southeast and State Route 169/Maple Valley Highway around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Westbound SR 169 is closed heading into Renton and is expected to remain closed for several hours because there are damaged traffic signal poles, cement spilled onto the road and trail, and officials need time to investigate what caused the crash.
The Renton Police Department tweeted that both trucks were on their sides. Video from Chopper 7 showed the cement truck had crashed through a barrier.
Crews at the scene said there was also a large fuel spill. A hazmat team was called to respond.
Police said traffic signals are out and roads are closed in the area.
Those who were hurt had minor injuries.
The eastbound lanes of SR 169 are open at the scene but are very congested.
Drivers should avoid the area.
