Change is brewing for two Bellingham businesses

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Change is brewing for beer drinkers in Bellingham. Stemma Brewing has announced plans to purchase Twin Sisters Brewing Company.

The owners of both breweries made announcements on social media on Dec. 31.

“As this chapter closes, we are pleased to share that Stemma Brewing Co. will be serving you from this amazing space,” one post states. “We want to thank everyone who walked through our doors over the years. You helped make Twin Sisters what it was.”

Twin Sisters Brewing, located on Carolina Street, closed its doors in December 2024 after six years. The owners listed the property in 2023, announcing they hoped to retire.

A grand opening date for the new Stemma Brewing Co. will be announced in the coming months.

“We have so many visions, ideas, and dreams of what may come with this expansion, and will share more as they come to life,” a post from the brewery says.

In November, Bellingham’s first craft brewery also announced plans to close its doors.

The owners of Boundary Bay Brewery are ready to retire after 30 years of business. Workers will pour their final pints in September 2025.
