Charges filed against 20-year-old woman in alleged hate crime in Seattle

SEATTLE — A 20-year-old Seattle woman has been charged with malicious harassment in King County Superior Court in a recent alleged hate crime.

The incident is alleged to have happened around 6:30 p.m. on April 29 at a bus stop near Broadway Avenue and Pike Street.

The alleged victim told police he was standing at the bus stop when a woman yelled, “F--- Y—White Boy,” as she slapped him in the face, knocking the his glasses to the ground.

Police identified the suspect as Romaria Clark, 20.

Her accuser said he asked Clark why she assaulted him and told her she was being racist, according to police.

In charging documents, police said Clark replied, “I f--- with skinheads,” and threw a box of wine she was carrying into the alleged victim’s face.

The man then called 911 and followed Clark to the QFC at Pike and Broadway.

Clark then continued to the parking lot of Mud Bay, where she climbed onto the roof of the building.

Police said the alleged victim showed them a video of his confrontation with Clark, including when she slapped him and when her made the “skinheads” comment.

The man gave police video of Clark on the roof of the building – apparently throwing items off the roof at passerby, according to police.

Police said Clark was resistant when she was arrested, and indicated she had been drinking and smoking marijuana.

Once in custody, Clark told officers that she is “very subversive” and an “anarchist,” police wrote in charging documents.

Clark was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of malicious harassment, the state’s hate crime law.

Clark’s criminal history includes over 12 arrests since 2017 – including an incident where she tossed an ax at officers.

Clark was released from jail two days before the alleged hate crime occurred.

Her arraignment, where she will enter a plea, is expected in May.
