Chick-fil-A ‘committed' to bringing 8-10 restaurants in Washington

The three current Chick-fil-A locations in Washington – Bellevue, Tacoma, Lynnwood – brought delight, controversy, and traffic delays in its short time so far in our state.

Another restaurant will make that location list longer as a Chick-fil-A announced a Puyallup location will open in 2017.

"We are excited to serve our guests in the community next year and committed to the state of Washington with 8-10 restaurants planned in the next five years," a news released said on Wednesday.

The Puyallup restaurant will open its doors 104 39th Avenue Southwest.

Every time a new Chick-fil-A opens, the first 100 campers win free chicken for a year.

When the first Washington state Chick-fil-A opened in Bellevue in 2015, customers decked out in shirts and hats camped out in the parking lot for hours.

The grand opening seemed to last for several weeks as the City of Bellevue had to implement a new traffic plan to accommodate the massive lines of cars traveling around the restaurant.

Grand opening aside, the restaurant also gained attention for political reasons.

The company's CEO has taken a public anti same-sex marriage stance, and some KIRO 7 viewers have said on Facebook they will be avoiding the restaurant.

During his election campaign, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray said he would push to keep the company out of the city.

Chick-fil-A is not announcing much information about the Puyallup and “committed” new locations at this time.
