BELLEVUE, Wash. — A three-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a car in Bellevue.
At 7:10 p.m., Bellevue Police officers were called to the Port Apartments at the 14100 block of Southeast 4th Street in Bellevue.
Police say the driver of a white Chevy Silverado was backing into a parking spot when it struck the three-year-old girl. The child was walking with her mother at the time.
“This is obviously a very tragic, horrible scene that I believe as a parent myself this is kind of the worst nightmare anybody could go through it to lose your three-year-old daughter in such a manner,” said Captain Ryan Parrott with Bellevue Police.
Police say the driver of the truck and the mother attempted life-saving efforts, but the young girl died on scene.
“The mother… she’s going through a lot of grief at this point. We’ve brought in our chaplain to help consult the family and we try to be respectful at the same time also provide a thorough investigation,” Capt. Parrott added.
Bellevue Police are investigating the collision.
