The Seattle City Council issued a proclamation declaring Wednesday Kraken Day across the city.

The Seattle Kraken are the NHL’s 32nd team and Wednesday is March 2, or 3/2.

“Kraken Day is the annual celebration of the 32nd NHL Franchise made possible by the fans in and around Seattle. 32 is their number now and always,” the Kraken posted on their website.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell and Seattle City Council President Debora Juarez will give a presentation Wednesday morning at the Kraken Community Iceplex.

Throughout the day there will be surprise giveaways and discounts at the iceplex, including 32% off public skating, stick + puck and drop-in hockey, and a special Kraken Day Frappuccino at the Starbucks store.

There are also specials in the 32 Bar & Grill, where a 7 p.m. Kraken watch party will be held with broadcasters John Forslund and JT Brown when the Kraken take on the Nashville Predators.

Discounts and giveaways are also happening across Seattle at select bars, entertainment venues, online, on the radio and on the Seattle Center Monorail.
