REDMOND, Wash. — The Redmond Police Department confirmed Thursday night that it is dealing with a data breach.
One of the city’s vendors, which the police department uses its system, was targeted.
The breach is related to “attackwa.org” and “pnwfraud.org,” which are operated by Netsential.com in Houston.
Statement from Netsential regarding the cyberattack:
“Netsential can confirm its web servers were recently compromised. We are working with the appropriate law enforcement authorities regarding the breach, and we are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
“We have enhanced our systems and will continue to work with law enforcement to mitigate future threats. Netsential will continue to work with clients impacted by the intrusion.
“Inasmuch as this is an ongoing investigation, and due to the sensitivity of client information, Netsential will provide no further statement while the matter is pending.pending.”
Redmond police said they’re not sure if the department’s data was compromised yet and will possibly have a better idea by mid next week.
The FBI is investigating.
