Cold Springs Fire in Okanogan County 45% contained

OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighting crews made progress on the Cold Springs Fire in Okanogan County.

The fire’s containment is at 45%, which is up 5% from just a few hours ago on Saturday.

Nearly 189,000 acres have burned.

A 1-year-old was killed last weekend when his family tried to escape the flames, officials said.

His parents, Jacob and Jamie Hyland, were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for their burns and are in critical condition.

Officials said the family was visiting their property in Okanogan County over the weekend when the Cold Springs Fire started Sunday evening, officials said.

Jamie Hyland was also pregnant and lost her unborn child.
