Western Washington saw temperatures in the teens in the early morning Tuesday.
This dangerously cold weather is causing warming shelters to open for extended hours in Snohomish, Pierce, and King Counties.
Many options are available for both day and night use, but the hours vary per location.
County and city leaders through Puget Sound cities say limiting time outside, wearing lots of layers, and finding somewhere safe and warm is crucial to surviving.
