SEATTLE — Coldplay will be the first act to officially open Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.

A rooftop light show on Tuesday revealed that the seven-time Grammy award-winning band will play its first arena show in nearly five years on Friday, Oct. 22, to officially open Seattle’s new home of live music, events and the Seattle Kraken.

The show will take place a week after the release of Coldplay’s ninth album, Music Of The Spheres, which is out Oct. 15.

Tickets will go on sale on Ticketmaster on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. You can also register for the presale through Sunday, Sept. 12 at 9 a.m.

The show will also be live-streamed on Prime Video, the Amazon Music app and on Twitch.

The concert will be the first public show at the Climate Pledge Arena as part of a week-long opening celebration across the Seattle Center Campus.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Oct. 21. The Seattle Kraken’s inaugural home game is on Oct. 23.

The arena will require everyone aged 12 and over to provide proof of vaccination.
